Bedroom damp caused by poor air circulation

Left untreated, damp can be bad for both your health (the mould and spores can aggravate respiratory problems such as asthma) and the health of your property: If any form of damp is left unchecked it can cause a number of potentially serious issues, including damage to decorated surfaces, or timber decay and even wet rot, which can lead to structural deterioration, and may necessitate major repair costs. Penetrating damp in brickwork can cause major wall instabilities

Whether it’s damp proofing walls to prevent penetrating damp, treating rising damp, or dealing with condensation problems, damp proofing costs needn’t be prohibitive, though selecting the appropriate treatment will depend on the results of the damp survey. More »

Warrington Team provide Damp Proofing Solution

Our damp proofing specialists from Cheshire were recently called upon to install a damp proofing solution for a project in Warrington. The property, which is in the process of being converted to residential flats, was undergoing major refurbishment when a survey highlighted issues with dampness on the ground floor. Once our specialists had carried out an extensive survey the issue was identified as rising damp with confirmation of this from the instrumental readings from profiling the walls with a moisture meter. The property also had soluble salt contamination and many walls within the property were affected by rising damp as the original damp proof course had clearly failed in places.

Damp Proofing Solutions By The Specialists

INstalling a chemical damp proof courseTo solve the dampness problems our Damp Proofing Specialist recommended an installation of a chemical damp proof  course on the ground floor of the property. In addition to the existing wall plaster being removed to a height of around 1 meter. The wall was then re-plastered with salt resistant plaster by our technicians.  The re-plastering is vital to prevent any future problems with hygroscopic salts spoiling the plaster work and decoration.
